JEE-Advanced 2013: Registration process & Eligibility Criteria

by Manisha Verma

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) for getting admission in leading engineering colleges will be held in two phases: JEE Main and JEE Advanced. In first phase, JEE Main will be conducted and all the candidates who register for the exam and fulfill the eligibility criteria will be eligible to appear in this JEE Main. Besides, JEE Advanced will be taken by only top 1,50,000 candidates irrespective of all categories who qualify in JEE Main-2013 exam. To appear in JEE Advanced-2013 candidates must have register themselves by visiting the official website.

Eligibility Criteria for JEE - Advanced

  1. 50.5% of the 1.5 lakh candidates will be selected from the top rankers of the Common Merit List (CML) of JEE (Main). 27% candidates will be taken from OBC category, 15% from NCL and remaining 7.5% will be selected from SC/ST categories. The candidates figuring in the category rank list will be those who do not figure in the 75,750 candidates selected from CML.
  2. In each category 3% of the candidates will be selected from PwD (Person with Disability) sub-category, who ranked in the respective rank list of JEE (Main).
  3. To be eligible for the JEE-Advanced a candidate's aggregate marks in JEE (Main) will be considered and no tie-break system will be implemented while selecting the candidates. This will make the list of candidates eligible to appear in the JEE (Advanced)-2013 slightly more than 1,50,000 due to the clubbing of candidates with same aggregate marks at the bottom of each category.

Application Fee for JEE-Advanced

Candidates who belong to GN/OBC/OBC-NCL need to pay Rs. 1800 as registration fee. Aspirants from SC/ST/PwD category required to pay Rs. 900 as registration fee. Female candidates from all categories are exempted from paying fee. For candidates who are appearing from Dubai centre, fee will be US$ 200. Candidates can submit the fee at any branch of State Bank of India (SBI). All the candidates who want to appear in JEE-Advanced exam must have completed the process of paying the fee between 8th May 2013 to 13th May 2014.
