we know that 15multiplyby1/3=5.but i can say that 15multiply by1/3=4.5….[since i we know that 1/3=0.3333].so 15 multiply1/3will be equal to4.5…..{can you say me wich one is correct}

HOW can u say 1/3=0.33333. since 1/3=0.33333333333333…............... therefore as u precise your calculations no. of rows in multiplication procedure tends to infinite and u will approach 5 .

dedlee is right…..... 15 times 1/3 is 4.9999…........... which is equal to 5, since 0.99999….... is equal to 1. check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/0.999… and you will be able to find an explanation. go on, its really interesting!

u cant calc exact value for such a rational no as it is non terminating so the value of 1/3=0.3333333333333333…...... is not correct it just an approximation as u go on increasing no. of 3’s after decimal, the result will approach to 5
