A parachutist jumps out of a plane. He freely falls for some time and then opens his chute. Shortly after the ? chute inflates, the parachutist: 1)keeps falling but quickly slows down 2)momentarily stops, then starts falling again, but more slowly 3)suddenly shoots up and then starts falling again, but more slowly 4)suddenly shoots up and then starts falling again, eventually acquiring the same speed he had before the chute opened

could you pls give the reason behind ur answer?

thanks :)

3 is correct answer because he gets upward force & start rising upwards & due to gravitational force he again starts falling down but due to pressur of air i.e. upward force he falls slowly.

3 is correct because of pressure in the parachuit firstly he goes upwards and then he slowly fall down bcoz of gravitational force and then as the air pressure is hihg above he falls more slowly

3 is correct bcoz of pressure in parachuit he goes upwards n then due to gravitational force he comes downwards n then as air pressure is high above it comes slowly.

the person’s velocity will fall sharply as air resistance increses and he will attain terminal velocity which is a constant. so 1 is the answer

The correct answer is 3. When the parachute is opened, due to air pressure it slightly moves upward initially. As gravitational force of the earth is greater than that of the air pressure, the parachute starts the downward motion with much less speed because of the air resistance.

3 Is correct because byouncy works on it and the gravitational force acts on it

it keeps falling but slows down quickly (ans 1). dont just say wt u feel, use logical statements .let me counter prove 3&4 options , first of all it wnt move up ,imagine u attained 1000mts/s velocity & u open ur parachute u wont go up because the drag force is not sufficient to change ur velocity from 1000mts/s in one direction to say10mts/s in other direction so 3&4 options are wrong.2option is also false as it may not stop
